Vision Therapy

What is Vision Therapy?

Think about vision therapy like physiotherapy, but the muscles that we condition are the eye muscles. Vision therapy is a customized exercise program for the eyes to help improve visual functioning.

What is Vision Therapy?

If you suffer from regular headaches in your forehead or around your eyes, if your eyes feel tired and fatigued daily, if you can’t focus on your computer or even read for more than 15 minutes at a time, then you may have some visual system problems. If your child still reads with their finger, if they skip words when they read, if they avoid reading entirely especially if they loved to read in the past, then this is a good indication that there’s a problem that we can help with. Unfortunately not all eye problems can be fixed with glasses, so vision therapy provides treatment for cases that glasses can’t fix alone.

How Does it Work?

If you are are experiencing visual problems, a Binocular Vision assessment is performed to see what areas you are having difficulty in. Afterwards a customized plan is made and weekly sessions are set up with the doctor (me) to rehabilitate and strengthen the weaknesses in the eye system.

If you’d like to explore vision therapy, see if vision therapy can help. Schedule a regular eye exam first, and then we can discuss the Binocular Vision Assessment and Vision Therapy after we find out how the your eyes are doing.
